So, according to this article on the Windows Vista Blog. DirectX 10 is "Not just another version", the thing that makes me laugh most about that article is the examples they use for comparison.

Comparing a picture of Halo (DirectX 9.0b) against Crysis (DirectX 10) is bound to show an improvement because technology has moved on significantly in the past 4 to 6 years since Halo was released. Really to make that in anyway credible, they should have used a recent DirectX 9.0c game.

I had more to say but I'm feeling tired so I'll pick this up again later. I will leave you with this blog post from the NVIDIA Development website, and this OpenGL documentation which will allow developers to access the hardware features of DirectX 10 from compatible graphics cards using OpenGL. The culmination of this can be found in their SDK 10.

I would really like to see some debate on this issue, especially seeing as to use DirectX 10, you have to buy a whole new "upgrade" to Windows.

I love this episode of Epileptic Gaming, mainly because I almost died from laughing at the Japanese/American Cosplay comparision that can be found in Part 4 (Starting at 7:00) and Part 5.

When skipping to the Parts, make sure you're watching "Wednesday - *Part Number* - EG #124"

Watch it! It's worth it :P

Oh yeah, this does contain strong swearing. You have been warned :D

I was just wondering how many people here use, or have tried using Linux, and also your opinions on it.

Previously on my desktop I have used extensively:
Ubuntu 5.04
(X/K)Ubuntu 6.06
(X)Ubuntu 7.04
Fedora 7

I have also used server distros of Linux:
Ubuntu 6.06 Server
Fedora Core 6 Server
CentOS

In fact the VPS server that this website runs on is a CentOS installation. I also plan to either install Fedora 7 Server, or CentOS on my new old computer when I finally get my hands on it.

I have used other distros as well as those listed above (I probably have 50+ CDs with Linux Install/Live CD ISOs burnt on them), but I find those best for what I use them for.

So, what distros do you use, and how do you find them?

I was reading an article on MSN about controversial computer games.

Essentially this is a response for the BBFC refusing to give Manhunt 2 a licence in the UK. The article itself lists a series of games that were controversial, including Carmageddon, a game which I own the "uncut" version of and was the last game prior to manhunt 2 to be refused classification by the BBFC.

A couple of the controversies are due to nudity in video games, this I feel is a little bizarre as you can a real person half naked in a film classified as 15, and a real person fully naked in a film classified as 18. Yet for some reason, seeing a naked, virtual model in a computer game is still too taboo for society.

I would be interested to hear peoples views on these "controversies" listed, particularly the "violence in video games" topic for which I wrote a whole report on for University and would be happy to discuss with people.
